Ah, yes, indeed. If your wedding is the best day of your life, or even of your marriage, UR DOIN IT RONG, as the lolcatz say. For my wife and me, every vacation is another honeymoon, each one better than the last, and our marriage is improving with age too.

The first bit of advice I give to anyone getting married is always "Don't deal with anyone or anything that specializes in weddings." We found that all the places and people we met who specialized just wanted to sell us pre-packaged overpriced vulgarity. We instead had the dress hand-made by a local seamstress, bought flowers at Loblaws, bought my suit at Cabaret Nostalgia, had the reception at Hart House... It was lovely, and much less expensive too.

I can't make it to your nuptials, alas, but here's a little thing I'd like to share with you: http://www.harbeck.ca/James/marriage.html

And here is a schmoopy quote from my favourite Love Doctor, St. John Chrysostom:

“An intelligent, discreet, and pious young woman is worth more than all the money in the world. Tell her that you love her more than your own life, because this present life is nothing, and that your only hope is that the two of you pass through this life in such a way that, in the world to come, you will be united in perfect love.”

St. John Chrysostom, On Marriage and Family Life (Sermon #20)
