A correct translation of the Latin introduction to the consecration in Eucharistic Prayer 1 says:
"taking this glorious chalice into his holy and venerable hands".
However, our present English version says:
"He took the cup."
Don't me--or him--wrong: in receiving Christ through the Eucharist, we are still blessed superabundantly even if the translation of the words of consecration is substandard. But approval of an English translation that is faithful to the official Latin can only help to increase our appreciation of the transcendent character of the Mass.
